The weather today couldn’t have worked any better for all the teams and drivers taking part at the series-wide test of the CART Toyota Atlantic Series, they were able to get a full test day in. The early morning times posted were David Rutledge - 54.19, Hoover Orsi - 54.22, Jonathan Macri - 54.25. The teams and drivers kept making several changes, trying to improve their times, by mid- afternoon new set of tires were appearing on the cars. By the end of the day the unofficial best times of the day given by Ferdinando Macri for each driver present were: Jonathan Macri - 53.71, David Rutledge - 53.84, Hoover Orsi - 53.85, Rocky Moran Jr. - 53.86, Michael Valiante - 53.86, Martin Basso - 53.95, Grant Ryley - 54.13, Rodolfo Lavin - 54.62, Tony Ave - 54.64, Stephan Roy - 55.10, T.J. Bell - 55.93, Frank Dancs - 56.06. The paddock area certainly had their eyes posted on Jonathan Macri in his NTN car while on track, everyone was impressed with his performance and amazed with his smooth driving and handling of his CART Toyota Atlantic Car. Several comments were given to the P-1 Racing Team, Ferdinando Macri and Mike Sheridan. Anne Roy, from CART Toyota Atlantic Series Office said, " Jonathan turned alot of heads these past two days and became the talk of the paddock area". Richard Spenard said, "you have to be a proud father, he’s so smooth through the S’s and how well Jonathan is taking the corners". Arnie Yoyning (the engine builder,for P-1Racing cars) had a radar gun where by it showed that Jonathan’s exit speed was 2 mph faster in the S’s than any of the other drivers. Jonathan was very excited and happy with P-1Racing Team’s performance and hard work. Race Engineer and Owner of P-1Racing Team Bill Fickling provided a great car and worked very well with driver Jonathan Macri. Crew Chief Kenny Kline was excited with Jonathan’s performance, Kenny,even had to do double work due to Second Mechanic Troy Mccall was not present due to being very ill. Jonathan Macri would like to thank NTN, his entire crew and P-1Racing for such an incredible and outstanding debut into the CART Toyota Atlantic Series Wide Test. |
