It is race week at Road America. As part of the Cart FedEx, Cart Toyota Atlantic drivers will be out on the 4.048 mile road course for the 9th race of the Atlantic’s 12-race season.
With only 4 races remaining, Gormley, Ontario’s young racing dynamo, Jonathan Macri is itching to get back into his NTN Bearings Swift after a two-week hiatus since the last race at Trois Rivieres.
“I’m excited to be racing again,” said Jonathan. There’s no doubt, we definitely needed the break after running back-to-back race weekends at Chicago and Trois Rivieres.”
For Jonathan, who has showed consistency and true racing prowess throughout the
season, the last quarter of the season is all-important.
“We want to try to bring it all together these last races,” Jonathan said. I’m happy with the way the season has gone. We’ve worked really hard and accomplished good results. But, we know we can show better results and are really working to end the season on a high
note.”
To assist Jonathan’s program, Kenny Wilden will be coming onboard Team NTN for the remainder of the year to facilitate between Jonathan and his engineers. Kenny comes to Team NTN armed with much racing experience, both open-wheel and sedan, having
driven in 1998-99 Toyota Atlantic series for Shank Racing.
“I am looking forward to working with Kenny,” said Jonathan. I’m sure my experience level will grow with his insight. The car’s set-up is always an integral part of the overall race performance, and I think that with Kenny facilitating between me and race engineers, we will be able to settle on the best possible set up in less time, and this will give me more time to learn the track and stick to clocking fast laps.”
Jonathan enters Road America currently 6th in the Championship Standings with 53 points and only 3 points shy of Joey Hand for the Rookie-of-the-Year Award.
