Portland, Oregon (June 21, 2003) – After the final qualifying session this morning, NTN Bearings -- Polestar Atlantic driver Jonathan Macri will start 8th on the grid for today’s race in Portland.

The final starting grid was determined by the two combined qualifying sessions, taking the best time from each driver. Macri, who turned a fast time of 1:06.876, is not where he’d like to be for this race. Last year here in Portland, Macri walked away with a podium finish after qualifying 3rd.

“Last year we did really well on this track, but this weekend has been really frustrating for me so far,” said Macri. “We are still making some changes to the car but, we just are not carrying as much speed as we should be in the high speed corners. I just hope we can get through the traffic this afternoon and move up front.”

Round five of the CART Toyota Atlantic Championship race is scheduled to being at 4:00 p.m. PST today. Speed Channel will televise the race from Portland International Raceway tape-delayed on Monday, June 23, 1:00 p.m. PST, 4:00 p.m. EST.
