With Canada’s National Exhibition Place temporary street circuit reporting rain this morning, Macri, driver of the #84 NTN Bearings Toyota Swift, was still able to qualify 5th with a best lap time of 1:06.656 after the 30 minute provisional qualifying round of the Molson Indy Toronto. The 1.755 – mile temporary street circuit is one of Macri’s favorite courses to run, allowing him to have complete confidence in his driving, despite the wet track.

“We know what we need to do to win after today’s session”, said Macri. “It’s also really nice to have my family, friends and my sponsor NTN Bearings here supporting me, as my hometown is just 30 minutes away. I am looking forward to tomorrow as I know we are going to do well with all the Canadian fans cheering me on.” Macri was certainly not short on supporters today. In complete disregard to the incessant rain, fans equalling over 43,000 poured into the grandstands to cheer on the racing teams. Event promoters anticipate a full house tomorrow for the Saturday race, giving the drivers one of their biggest audiences of the season.

Tomorrow's on track activities begin at 9:00 a.m. with the second and final practice and qualifying session to determine the starting grid. Round seven of the CART Toyota Atlantic Championship race is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. local time. The Speed Channel will televise the race live from the National Exhibition Place course.
