Montreal, Quebec, Canada (August 22, 2003) Jonathan Macri, driver of the #84 NTN Bearings Toyota Swift, qualified 9th Friday afternoon with a lap time of 1:34.602 after the 30 minute qualifying round. The 2.709 – mile permanent road course proved beneficial for Macri who turned very quick laps, unfortunately his car couldn’t sustain that level of speed and endurance for too long today.

“It wasn’t the best day for us for us, but luckily all the problems we encountered today can be rectified for tomorrow’s qualifying session”, said Macri. “Even though I am disappointed with today, the upside is that the car feels good. I am turning fast laps on two and three, but we can’t last out there for long. The handling feels really good though, which is great...We just are going to have to work to make the necessary changes and prepare for tomorrow.”

Although today proved to be rather disappointing for Macri, his talent and skill have earned him a current third place ranking in championship points. He is also the only driver in the series to have finished every race inside the top eight positions and is the only driver to have finished every lap this season. With these types of statistics, fans and race analysts feel confident Macri can come back tomorrow and greatly improve his time and grid position.

Tomorrow's on track activities begin at 8:45 a.m. with the second and final qualifying session to determine the starting grid. Round ten of the CART Toyota Atlantic Championship race is scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m. EST. Speed Channel will televise the race from the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve raceway live.
