Denver, Colorado (August 29, 2003) Jonathan Macri qualified 9th Friday afternoon with a lap time of 1:09.004 after the 30 minute provisional qualifying round. The 1.647 – mile temporary street circuit is infamous for it’s bumpy nature and proved to be problematic for Macri and his #84 NTN Bearings Toyota Swift.

“Basically I am a little upset with today. We really need to find a setup for tomorrow”, said Macri. “This track is very bumpy and the car is just not handling the way it should over those bumps. We really have to re-evaluate our setup and come up with something that works. Luckily we have a full day tomorrow to get something going.”

Macri is a fierce competitor who keeps his head high despite frustrations. He will spend the afternoon meeting with his team engineer and crew to solve some of the issues that existed with the car today and work to find a way to improve his position during tomorrow’s qualifier. Following his team meeting, Macri will join the elite Champ Car drivers for an hour long autograph session in the Pepsi Arena.

Tomorrow's on track activities begin at 9:15 a.m. with the second practice session, followed by the final qualifying session at 3:00 p.m. to determine the starting grid. Round 11 of the CART Toyota Atlantic Championship race is scheduled to begin on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. local time. Speed Channel will televise the race from Denver on the same day with a 90 minute tape delay. Check local listings as dates and times are subject to change.
