Denver, Colorado (August 30, 2003) – With the final qualifier now complete, #84 NTN Bearings driver Jonathan Macri will start 10th on the grid for tomorrow’s race on the downtown streets of Denver. While the cars pulled onto the track during the 3:00 p.m. second qualifying session, rain fell lightly as the ominous black clouds continued to roll in. Luckily the torrential rains held off until the checkered flag, giving the drivers a relatively dry track.

Macri, who turned a fast time of 1:07.968, was considerably up-beat for tomorrow’s race despite starting in 10th position. His eternal optimism is something people have come to count on from Jonathan, who always remains even-keeled and positive. “The reason I love this sport so much is that there is always an opportunity to improve and do better...to be faster”, Macri commented. “Last year I started 11th here in Denver and finished in 5th...so you never know what will happen in racing. I am confident that we will have a better finish come race day. The car was running really well on the old tires, and we are working hard to improve for the race.”

Macri’s confidence stems from his desire to constantly improve his abilities. His desire to drive his best propels him forward and prevents frustrations on the track from getting to him for too long. “Of course I get frustrated just like anyone else would after some sessions. I enjoy the challenge of working hard to do better the next time though”, said Macri. “It is important for me to strive to improve my time each time I hit the track no matter what position I start in."

Round 11 of the CART Toyota Atlantic Championship race is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. local mountain time tomorrow, August 31, 2003. Speed Channel will televise the race from the streets of Denver beginning at 2:00 p.m. and again throughout the upcoming week.
