Miami, Florida (September 26, 2003) Jonathan Macri, driver of the #84 NTN Bearings Toyota Swift, qualified 8th Friday afternoon with a lap time of 49:157 after the 30 minute qualifying round. The 1.15 – mile temporary street circuit proved complicated and problematic for the drivers, despite it’s short length.

“This track is very complicated”, said Macri. “It is very bumpy and at one point every car goes airborne with all four wheels off the track. Passing is next to impossible and while I feel I have figured out the track, it doesn't mean it gets easier. I am looking forward to tomorrow though and getting back out there again with an even better car.”

With a difficult track and an 8th place finish, Macri is anything but discouraged. He is still seeking his first career Toyota Atlantic race victory, despite the fact that he has nine career podium finishes, five of which came this season. In addition, Macri is the only driver to have completed every lap and every mile of the 2003 season and is looking to keep his perfect record intact on Sunday. With this past successes, Macri will keep his head up and his eyes on the victory both Saturday and at Sunday’s race.

Tomorrow's on track activities begin at 8:00 a.m. with a practice session followed by the second and final qualifying session at 12:30 p.m. EST to determine the starting grid. Round 12 of the CART Toyota Atlantic Championship race is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. EST on Sunday September 28, 2003. Speed Channel will televise the race from the streets of downtown Miami at Bayfront Park on race day at 12:00 p.m. EST, with re-broadcasts September 29 at 3:00 p.m. EST and Friday, October 3 at 5:00 p.m. EST.
