In just his second race in the Cart Toyota Atlantic series, Jonathan Macri piloted his NTN Bearing Swift to a fourth place finish in today's Lehigh Valley Grand Prix at Nazareth Speedway. Having started in 6th position on the grid, the 19 year old native of Gormley Ontario gained one position by vaulting past Joey Hand to capture 5th place at the start of the race. In the first lap, the race went to yellow. Jonathan, once again gained a position at the re-start by diving past Stephan Roy for 4th.

"I took advantage of the starts and re-starts", Jonathan said. Being such a difficult track to pass on, I figured that it was a good way of moving up on the field."

About 40 laps into the 65 - lap race, Jonathan did, however, attempt a pass on Rudolfo Lavin for the number 3 spot.

"I tried to pass Rudolfo, but found myself having to brake hard to avoid him. As a result, I lost momentum and decided to protect my fourth place position, ready to pounce on the throttle for 3rd place if I detected any problem with Rudolfo."

Jonathan came to Nazareth with one goal - to show a top five finish.

However, 4th place did not come easy.

"We ran slowly in our earlier practice sessions because of a handling problem. But we managed to make progress, until Friday afternoon's practice session, when the car's handling was way off. Luckily, by Saturday morning's practice, we were able to run consistently good lap times.", Jonathan said.

Next, the Atlantic series goes to Milwaukee for the Miller Lite 225 June 1 to June 3.

"Having finished in the top five, I am very happy with our results here at Nazareth, and look forward to Milwaukee," Jonathan said.
