Today, Cart Toyota Atlantic drivers ushered in the start of their race weekend as they took to Milwaukee's oval in preparation for qualifying tomorrow for the Milwaukee Mile.

Only his first time on the one-mile oval, Gormley Ontario's Jonathan Macri spent the morning test session getting comfortable with the track. The session quickly put to rest Jonathan's initial impression of Milwaukee.

"Milwaukee is tougher than it looks. It's wide, but unforgiving. You close right up against the walls in the corners, and if you change your approach only slightly, you risk ending up hitting them, like my teammate Stephan found out, unfortunately. So, I took it easy this morning. The session was meant to give me the opportunity to get comfortable with the track. We made a few changes to the wing and spring set-ups during the session and this helped bring down our lap time by the end of the session," Jonathan said.

The changes to the NTN Bearings Swift coupled with Jonathan's increased comfort level on the track translated into even quicker times for the afternoon session, in the 25:60's. Unfortunately, the session was cut short by rain, turning it into a one-hour session.

"I was running flat out in the second session," Jonathan said. "I hope we can get more practice time in tomorrow. More work on the set-up will definitely put us in good shape for qualifying tomorrow afternoon. Our biggest challenge is to try to free up the car so it doesn't scrub the corners," Jonathan said.

Hopefully, Jonathan and his crew will get the chance to make more changes to the NTN car. However, rain forecasted for tomorrow morning may wash away any chance of running additional practice sessions.
