Today, Cart Toyota Atlantic drivers took to the streets of False Creek for the first of two qualifying sessions in preparation for the Vancouver Molson Indy, Sunday. Coming off a spectacular second place podium finish at Road America, Canadian racing dynamo, Jonathan Macri, is anxious to try his racing hand at Vancouver.

“It’s my first time racing here in Vancouver,” Jonathan said. “It took me some time to adjust to the track during the morning practice. By the end of the session, though, I felt comfortable in the car. I took it easy with throttle to spare but I decided to save it for qualifying.”

However, the afternoon qualifier witnessed Jonathan finish once again in 6th position.

“The car ran a bit loose. It wasn’t sticking, and I was having a hard time just trying to find some tire grip”, Jonathan said. “I am not satisfied with the result, but it is just a provisional and I think that we’ll be in better shape for tomorrow’s official qualifier. I will be consulting with my team (P1-Racing/NTN Bearings) and I am sure they will be able to work out the bugs in the handling. There aren’t too many passing opportunities here, so I am counting on tomorrow’s official qualifier to make up ground on the start grid. I’m definitely looking forward to tomorrow, and am hoping that the rain misses us”

Official qualifying for Sunday’s race takes place tomorrow afternoon.
